What is Pool Coping?Wood Pool Deck

The coping around your pool is the stone or concrete material that caps the pool shelf wall around the edges. It completes your pool’s look.

At one time, you could only order plain concrete. And yet, today’s pool coping allows you to choose from:

  • Poured concrete
  • Precast concrete
  • Natural stone

At Neave Pools, we use these materials to create a design that matches your desires as well as your outdoor style.

Renovating Your Swimming Pool Decking

Most pool companies will create a pool deck, but it won’t be the type of pool decking that completes your entire backyard look. However, you can design your new pool patio and deck to make your outdoor rooms come together.

Our swimming pool service company will work with you, from the design process all the way until the finished project. Plus, your pool contractor effortlessly coordinates other parts of Neave’s Outdoor Solutions to build you the pool deck or patio of your dreams and goals.

Your pool decking is the place to relax and recharge after playing hard in your pool. You want it to reflect your lifestyle as well as match the rest of your outdoor rooms and home’s architecture.

For example, if you have a big family and they visit every weekend, you want a kid-friendly pool deck where the kiddos won’t slip and fall. Or, if the kids are out of the house, and you host adult-only pool parties. So, you want a poolside bar with underwater seating that connects with the outdoor kitchen.

You will also want to use building materials that will not only enhance your style but will be built to last a lifetime.

Plus, you can design your pool into different activity zones:Swimming Pool Deck Options

  • A pool deck or patio to dry off and catch some rays
  • An area dedicated to an outdoor kitchen and dining spaces with a pergola
  • A yoga deck to practice surrounded by water and the outdoors
  • A travertine or natural stone path leading to another patio complete with a fire pit to warm up after a swim.

Today’s pool decks and patios aren’t limited to function for one activity—drying off and laying in the sun. Indeed, today’s decks and patios are divided to meet different parts of your outdoor fun.

In recent years, pool decking includes durable, beautiful wood. So, if you don’t want natural stone, travertine pavers or bricks, you can go with wood.

Here are six different materials to choose from for your new patio or deck:

  • Poured concrete: You have a lot of design options when you select poured concrete. The final design can look like flagstones or bricks. While not as popular an option, poured concrete can be dyed and fashioned in the design of your choice.
  • Concrete pavers: You have a lot of choices when you decide to use concrete tile pavers for pool decks. They’re pre-made to look like tile, bricks or stone. This has become one of the most popular options.
  • Marble: Marble is one of the newer trends in patio design. It’s cooler on the feet than traditional pavers. It also comes in various designs and colors.
  • Natural stone: Again, you have many choices for natural stone, such as blue- and flagstones. However, you may not want this type of patio if you have kids running around the pool. Natural stone can become very slippery.
  • Travertine: Travertine is another hot trend in patio construction. It comes in a variety of colors and textures. It doesn’t absorb the heat like other materials, so your feet won’t get burned while walking out of the pool to get your towel.
  • Wood: Today’s wood decking is very high-end with Ipe from South America or Brazilian teak. These two kinds of wood don’t splinter, they’re hardy enough to build right by the pool, and they’re long-lasting.
